Blackberry failure reached Dominican Republic

The situation came back to normal today

Hundreds of Blackberry phone users are being affected Wednesday by a failure of a central switch of the Canadian company Research In Motion (RIM), manufacturer of the mobile devices.

The telecommunications Claro, cited by news source elcaribe.com.do, said since last night the glitch affecting Blackberry users in Canada and Latin America is causing delays in incoming and outgoing messages, Web browsing, file transfers and status update.

Claro said it has informed the Dominican regulator Indotel on the situation, and acknowledged that its customers confront problems in the social networks. We expect a quick, definitive solution to the problem. We regret the inconveniences that this situation presents to our customers.

Meanwhile the Consumer Rights agency (ProConsumidor) in its twitter account said users affected by the fault must submit their claim for the lost service to the telecommunications.
